L’Oréal Australia’s commitment to gender equality at the workplace confirmed through the edge move certification

Melbourne, August 2017

L’Oréal Australia is proud to announce they have received MOVE level of EDGE (Economic Dividends for Gender Equality) Certification. The EDGE assessment is the leading business certification for gender equality in the workplace that is universally applicable across industries and countries.

In 2015 L’Oréal Australia became the first company in Australia to be certified with the EDGE Gender Equality Certification (EDGE ASSESS level) and is the first company in Australia to be certified by EDGE to the second level of certification.

This certification recognises L’Oréal Australia’s leadership and commitment to create, benchmark, and support gender equity throughout the workplace. Two years after L’Oréal Australia’s first certification, it has demonstrated an inclusive culture in terms of employees’ ratings in terms of career development opportunities and improved the framework of effective policies and practices in terms of recruitment and promotion, leadership development training and mentoring and flexible working.

This level means that the company has already achieved certain milestones relating to strong gender balance across the talent pipeline, effectively implementing gender equality policies and practices, and fostering an inclusive workplace culture. It is also an opportunity to commit to further improving the company’s action plan for even greater impact.

“We are very proud to be certified by EDGE for a second time as we prioritise gender equality and diversity in our workplace,” said Amber Kristof, HR Director at L’Oréal Australia. “Positive feedback from our employees and organisations such as EDGE is key to our success in this area and helps to drive us to create even greater change.”

Over the past six months, L’Oréal Australia has participated in EDGE’s recertification process, which included a comprehensive review of the company’s gender policies and practices and a deep analysis of gender data across the entire Australian workforce of over 900 employees. As part of the evaluation, L’Oréal Australia provided all employees with the opportunity to complete a survey on gender equality, seeking their feedback on recruitment and promotion, leadership training and mentorship, flexible work, company culture and equal pay for equivalent work. The EDGE Certification was granted to L’Oréal Australia after an independent verification of the findings by a third-party auditor.
